Denver hits #1 for Home Appreciation Rate

According to CoreLogic’s latest Home Price Index, released Tuesday. Home prices in Colorado grew by 9.8 percent in February, the fastest rate of growth anywhere in the country. Denver Metro had an even higher rate of 11.1% but even that pales in comparison to some of the cities neighborhoods that had appreciation rates north of 20%. Nationally the average was 5.6%. Walkable Neighborhoods are worth more than less walkable neighborhoods. According to the latest New York Times article, by Christopher Leinberger, homes in the suburbs were getting a premium until the 90’s when there was shift in urban movement. People started moving to locations closer to downtown in areas that were slums 30 years ago. According to the article homes in Highlands are now worth 67% more than Highlands Ranch. The article goes on to breakdown how this correlates to income and some of the reason’s why people are choosing to live in more urban neighborhoods. New City Park Playground design concepts released! Check 'em out!

City Park has changed a lot over the years. While its no Wash Park in terms of use it is changing from an underutilized park with the “best view in Denver” to becoming the crown jewel it was originallyl designed to be. Anyway I digress. The real reason I’m writing this is because in case you hadn’t heard the plan is to rebuild the main (North) playground by the south side of the zoo.
